Some moulds belong to the group of opportunistic pathogens. Among the facultative human pathogens are Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger. These species are able to have a detrimental effect on already present symptoms. Because for their small size such microorganisms can be inhaled and then settle in the lung. There are also many toxin-forming moulds that are suspected of spreading toxins via spores and smallest particles through the air. The toxin can be easily inhaled similar to asbestos particles.
